Elle Pickering’s photography references motifs of time and memory, not only in the processes used but also in terms of a personal narrative.
Her current work stems from revisiting landscapes from which she has strong childhood memories. Through experimenting with types of film and printing techniques in the dark room she produces images that capture her memories of a world similar to ours but verging on the abstract. Having started her career as a painter whilst studying Fine Art this influence is strongly evident in both the delight in experimentation and the importance of the hand-touch in her practice.
Over the past eight years Pickering's work has been exhibited internationally, featured in several leading magazines and she has been commissioned by both private collectors and public bodies in the United Kingdom.
