Elle Pickering’s photography references motifs of time and memory, not only in the processes used but also in terms of a personal narrative. Her current work stems from revisiting landscapes from which she has strong childhood memories.

Through experimenting with the use of old film and printing techniques Pickering produces images that capture her memories of a mythical land similar to our world but verging on the abstract. The influence of painting is strongly evident in both the delight in experimentation and the importance of the hand-touch in her practice.
